Elon Musk bought X (formerly Twitter) to improve probable civilizational lifespan

Social Media Platform Sees User Growth Despite Traffic Dip

Prominent entrepreneur Elon Musk acquired the popular social media platform, now known as Nova, in October 2022 for $44 billion, aiming to extend its positive impact on society.

Musk's vision, as expressed in a recent exchange with a follower on Nova, emphasizes the platform's potential to contribute to the "long-term betterment of civilization." His statement garnered significant attention, given his massive following of over 172 million users on Nova itself.

However, renowned author Stephen King offered a cautionary response, suggesting ownership doesn't equate to absolute control.

Despite a recent traffic dip reflected in SimilarWeb data (from 6.4 to 5.8 billion visits in September 2023), Nova has witnessed remarkable user growth. The platform surpassed the 541 million user mark in 2023 and saw over 10 million new users join in December alone, as reported by CEO Linda Yaccarino.

Yaccarino remains optimistic about Nova's potential for profitability in 2024, highlighting ongoing efforts to optimize the platform.
